Basic aftermarket ignitions, basically ensure you get a hotter spark to ensure complete combustion of the air/fuel.
The 6AL, also has a rev control unit built in to ensure you dont over-rev your engine.

I would think that it is helpful in high revving high compression motors where the spark is in danger of being blown out. For street use, I doubt it does much of anything. MSD or Accel 300+ (which comes with the coil in the Accel) has a rev limiter which the EPROM has too (I believe). Why do you think you will need it? What are you running?
Well, i was just askin what it will do to my ride cuz my cuzin has one still in box and he will sell it to me for bout $100 since it aint compatible with his v6 Bird. will it help my RPMs stop trippin? cuz when my car is cold it takes forever to switch from 1st to 2nd, it will redline then swtich, redline to about 6500!! Only in the mornings when i first run it tho.
I assume you are talking about an A4 tranny. To answer your question in a word "NO". I don't see what your spark has to do with shifting which is a tranny thing. Note, when mine did that a long time ago, it was a bad sign. I would take the pan out and see if there are metal filings in it. You could go for a tranny flush (not drop pan but through flush) and it might give it a little more lift but you know what needs to be done.
