modding up a 8.5" rear end
im thinkin about moddong up a 8.5' 10bolt. does anyone know of anyone who has done this. any help would be great. im not spending 1000+ on a stupid 12 bolt.
Considering you need to find some way to attach a torque arm or change the rear suspension to a 4-link or ladder bar. By the time you're done it might be cheaper to just buy the aftermarket bolt in diff.
The trouble with the GM diffs. is that the center section is cast. You might be able to find someone who's willing to weld a mount to attach the torque arm onto the diff but you risk the chance of warping the housing which could affect the alignment of the bearings inside. At least a 9" has a steel housing and it's easier to weld a bracket onto.
