I believe the StealthRam is basically a ported out TPI, with a bigger TB and a shorter runner design so smoth out the power curve. So the car doesnt take a crap at 4800 rpms like the stick TPI does.

Here is the Holley Stealth Ram.

As you can see, its quite a bit different than the MiniRam. A lot cheaper to buy, too.

I thought when the stealth ram first came out you could buy the set-up and bolt it onto your TPI car for like $400. But I was looking in SUmmit the other day and they were asking 2 grand for the set-up. But that was for ecm and everything. Can you still buy jsut the stuff you need to bolt onto an already TPI car cheaply and where can it be purchased?

Car craft tested the stealth this month. I wasn't to impressed with the gains, especially for the price.

Check out this month's GM High Tech Performance magazine. The Stealth Ram install made a lot of difference on an IROC-Z they tested, from a 12.93 with ported stock lower intake and plenum, with SLP runners, to a 12.36 with the Stealth Ram. Bear in mind, the cam wasn't even a roller (218/228 flat-tappet). The Stealth Ram works best on a modified engine; ie heads ,cam and so on. The long runner TPI works best on milder engine that wants more mid range torque; which is the forte of the TPI system over everything else (albeit at the expense of top end power).

It boils down to what you want the car to do. SR gives more top end charge, but less mid range torque. Ultimately, the SR will make the most power from a modified engine.

Yeah I think your right it wasn't CC it was GMHTP.
And TPIS's 350 with the almost exact same mods with a mini-ram ran a 11.70 @ 126.55. It's cheaper and faster. I'd go TPIS.

No you are right - CC also did a story on the SR install, and no it wasnt excactly an impressive gain in their case, because they used a stock engine. The SR works best on a modified engine (heads, cam).

The miniram is only 895.00 plus 355.00 for the fuel rail kit which includes everything you need to install it. That doesn't seem like a lot to me.

A stealth ram is about $500 installed if you do it yourself....unless you have a larger dist. model F-body then it can get expensive because you have to have a small cap dist....Also those people out there with modified motors that are having serious traction problem's because Stock TPI intakes make all their power at about 3000 RPM will love this intake because you can launch the car a lot harder since the power band is higher in the RPM range....BUT if you want tire shredding low RPM fun, stick with a stock type setup, port the base and plenum, through some runners and a throttle body on it and no one will beat you in a burn-out contest....Oh and yes the SR will clear the hood in a Camaro and it will fit a Trans-am if you cut the bracing out of the hood, but It's really close
