Might be getting a LT1 from a 95 Caprice....
The engine is out of a Caprice, 150K KM on it. It's from a 95 Caprice Cop Car and it has the wiring harness and computer from a buick roadmaster. I didnt know that the road masters had the LT1 also but I guess they do. Will this engine work with that computer? and if I did a small cam upgrade when rebuilding it, would I need a new chip or would it still run with that chip?
Also is it hard to get an LT1 into a 92RS??
And will my stock 700R4 tranny be ok? Or would I need to get an auto that came with an LT1

The LT1 will be almost a direct bolt-in, if the rs is a v-8 car. 6 banger will take some work. Get the harness and ecm from the donor car, it will save frustration later. While I've developed somewhat of a reputation of bashing the 700 r4, I doubt it will live long behind 330 hp. ,So plan on a rebuild in the near future. A tranny cooler will help it survive for a little while. While you are under there, sub frame connectors are mandatory.

Hey Jesse that would be so cool if you get it tell me I`ll help you put it in
You`ll have one hell of a sleeper. Oh yeah you`ll have to get SFC like somone else said and headers and make sure it`s a 350, 350`s have a 4.00" bore if you diddn`t know
RS with LT-1

It will say either 4.3LG or 5.7LG

swap out them heads for a set of stock f-body heads (fbodys are aluminum while the caprice has cast iron heads)
the 700r4 will be okay behind the LT1 for a while. a rebuilt 700r4 will put up with the same as a 4l60e (it is essentially the same tranny)

dude, i did this same swap you are looking at! my motor came from a 94 cop car and it was pretty easy to install. first, yes the pcm will work! second, my motor had 153,xxx miles when installed and after header install, this car is scary fast!! these engines will go 250,xxx easy! i would not worry about the head swap. you are putting in a motor that came from a 4200 pound car that was made for torque and you will put it into a car that weighs 900lb's less. there is a reason why guys who race this motor hard will take your iron heads off your hands fast! one tip, go to junk yard and get a fan from a v-6. its single fan and fits perfect. also the 700r4 works (it is the as the 4l60e cept inside) but the pcm will not know what to do because it will throw a no tranny code. call byran herder and he can program the pcm (www.pcmforless.com) to act like the six speed guys do. putting in a 4l60e is a lot easier. check lt1powededz's site. he has a lot of great tips that helped me, except i did a slightly differant motor mount setup. good luck!!
