Might buy a 92, have some Questions
I might be buying an automatic 92 Firebird Formula. I haven't seen it in person yet, just called the owner from the classified ads. How much horsepower did the 1992 Firebird Formula Automatics have stock? Also, what kind of 1/4 mile times would the autos run stock?
Are there alot of aftermarket parts to chose from if I want to increase performance?
Also, he says it has 59,000 original miles which I'd think would be amazing. Did they have 5 digit odometers or 6 digit odometers? I'm asking so I can know if it might have rolled over and hes just lying about it?
Thanks!!!

you could have one of three choices for enigines (8 cyl)
L03- 5.0 TBI
LB9- 5.0 TPI
B2L- 5.7 TPI (Only with Automatic)
Not sure about the 1/4 mile times.
The odometer should have been a 6 digit odometer (059,000.1)
If the Odometer has been rolled back, look between the numbers on the odometers if you see white small white lines between them walk away.
Hope that helps you.

If the owner doesn't know, is there anyway for me to tell if its the 5.0 TBI, 5.0 TPI, or 5.7? Whats the differences between those anyway (other then the obvious size difference between the 5.7 and the two 5.0s)

TPI =Tuned Port Injection
You can look at the motor, if its got a snorkel type air cleaner, its a TBI (see my motor in sig)) TPI would look like this cars motor, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6420 and as far as 5.0/5.7 i wouldnt take the guys word, get the number off the back of the block (drivers side) and thatll tell you. peace
To tell what engine it is you could look at the Build List in the car. I think it will be on the door jam or in the arm rest. In the ohter post the codes are there. If you find that one on the list then you'll know.
The differences are the
LB9- had 205 horsepower
L03- had 170 hp
B2L- had 245 hp
