lt4 intake?

ok, right now i have a stock L98. i was thinking about going with the lt1 intake sometime in the future. one of my friends at school is getting an lt4 kit for his 95 z28. the kit includes intake, heads, hot cam, 1.6rr's, and all the gaskets. my question is, would i be able to put all this into my motor?

Nope, can't use the heads unless you get an LT1 block.
The LT1 intake can be modded for a SBC but the LT4 can't since the intake ports are not in the same place as an LT1 and regular SBC intake.
The cam will work if you have an 87+ motor, and roller rockers will work fine.

ACCEL Superram Intakes. The manifold is slotted so it fits pre and post 87.

The stealth ram is probably one of the best for TPI cars. Take a look at holleys site.

Zepher, thanks, that's exactly what i was looking for!

aklim, i was thinking about the super ram, but i think i'd rather have an lt1 or stealth ram.

guywidiroc, i'd really like to get a stealth ram, i really like the look and it seems like it works the best with different combos. even the price is great, but unfortunately it's not emissions legal.

i'm not sure if the lt1 is emissions legal, but i thought that since it is on lt1 cars, it would be on any other block. but then again, the lt1 block is different, so idunno. i know, i know, do a search, did that, couldn't find a straight answer. lt1intake.com is down, i emailed john...

i'd really like the car to be emissions legal, but if it comes down to it, i might be able to get around it. anybody know about stuff like that in new jersey? all i know is that totally stock i passed inspection. i don't know if they do a visual inspection, but if they do, then i think only the super ram would work.

i don't know, somebody give me suggestions

Modded LT1 is not emissions legal since there is no provision for the EGR when it is modded for a non-LT1 SBC. The distributor hole is drilled into the back of the intake and the distributor cap blocks the area where an EGR would go.

FYI, Superram has all the EO numbers and fits EGR. I was kinda skeptical about it when I asked Lingenfelter about it but since then, I have changed my mind. I have used it and am using it and will still use when I supercharge my motor. It really wakes up the low band torque.

as stated above...the lt4 intake will not fit. a LT1 intake will work just fine. and it is much cheaper than a stealth ram

One good way to get around emissions in N.J. is MOVE I am going to school in AZ now they have real strict emissions out here. One of my friends from school is from N.J. and he said that they are just as bad if not worse at home.I feel for you man I am glad I don't have to worry about that in either state I live in.MI does'nt have emissions and since I have MI plates on my car I don't have to comply with AZ emissions. It's a good thing too I have almost no smog crap on either of my cars.

Intake and exhaust ports are in different locations as well as EGR passages, or should I say lack of them.

actually, i emailed john millican (the guy who does lt1 intake conversions for small blocks) and he said

"You could run LT4 heads and intake but it would be expensive. The heads and intake would need to be modified to work on a SBC. "

personally, now that i think about it, the lt4 probably wouldn't make the power to justify the cost over the lt1.

looks like i'll have to find a way to get around emissions.

There is a article on modifiying LT1 heads to work on a standard small block, I used to have it bookmarked but it I cant find it, must be at home.

My brain is scheming about the lt4 intake on vortec heads. I wouldnt think the lt1 intake would work, but if the intake ports are different then I wonder if there is a possibility.

The LT4 intake on a set of Vortec heads has been done. It works fine from what I hear.
