i hope you don't plan on driving the car long, cuz an lt1 is gonna grenade your tranny.

They didn't even put them behind the 350 tpi from the factory, and there was a reason.

Yep...good luck. I would spend the extra money now to get a 6spd, rather then waste your time/money on the T5.

t5s will hold up as long as u dont shock load it....no 5K dumps...no super fast shifting...its the shock that kills them....i have a 400hp 350 in front of the t5...still holding up....ive seen a t5 car run 12s...so...dont say its gonna take a crap...

u can use either starter...a lt1 starter has more tq and its lighter than the t5 one...

I would guess that the gm starter from a t56/lt-1 camaro/firebird, is that the general consensus?

I would run one of the mini starters. More torque, less weight and saves room. I am taking it you will be running headers. It will give you alot more clearence.

wow he asks about a starter and the first half of replies are about the tranny. I bet if he's smart enough to do an LT1 swap he knows about the tranny.

Anyway. LT1 and SBC starter are interchangeable. The LT1 starter is much lighter and smaller for header clearance so use it.

T-5 Ratios.

HI.

I was hoping to dig this up to get the T5 ratios.

Also were T5's used on V6's?

Any one ever weigh a T5 How about a T56?

I'm sure if you do a search on iroczone.com or thirdgen.com and find your answer.
I know that v6's can with t-5's(a friend of mine have one - not sure why he bought the thing, but i remembered seeing it). the splins where different between the v8 and v6's.

hope this helps,

The T5s that came behind 60* v6 cars had a different spline count and were weak as sh*t, but I believe that the T5s that came behind the 3.8s were the same World Class units that were used in the V8 thirdgens. The gear ratios may differ somewhat, but they should be just as strong.
