LT1 Heads: Accessories Q?

When using LT1 heads, will all the accessories bolt up? If not, what/where is the problem?

NOTE: I can't post on TGO for some reason, maybe someone could ask the same question on the TPI board? I know tpi_roc has done it but it won't even let me get his email address. Thanks

The bolt patterns should be the same. 3 bolt holes in the lt1 heads, I'll check mine in the morning and make sure.

Haha, thanks Chris. The only reason I'm skeptical is because I know you can't use 3rd gen accessories on an LT1. I'm hoping it deals with the block...which I don't think it does. I don't need to run AC if that makes a difference.

The reason you can't use 3rd gen accessories on an LT1 is because the offsets on the pulleys are all wrong. The LT1 uses an integrated balancer/crank pulley, so all the other pulleys are also offset differently.

I'm pretty sure that you can use your accessories on LT1 heads, only thing I'm thinking that might get in the way is the plug for the water cross over. Again, I'll check and even send you some pictures to compare. Probably be Sunday night or Monday morning on the pictures though, I'm going to a friend's house after I get off work in the morning.

Most of the plugs for the crossover are flat or indented.

well ive done everything yall said cant be done...the brackets will line up but one bolt ont he passenger bracket...

when the LT1 is ran off a carb or batch fire 730 ECM, the 3rd gen brackets and accesseries will work with slight modification to the brackets to clear the water pump

I'll be running LT1 heads/intake on my 350 BC, will I have any problems? It will be off of a 165 ECM (although I may have to switch to 730, I'm not sure).

theres only 3 things i can see...and i assume u know 2....youll have to mod the cooling ports on the heads..no big deal
the inner and upper most bolt on the passenger bracket will not line up...and u cant open up the bracket for it to, so make sure you get the 2 bottom ones and the top outside one nice and tight...i have mine like that and no problems whatsoever..ill chek them every couple weeks and there all still tight...

IIRC correctly the 165 will work, but no were near as well as a 730...IMO id convert to a 730 at the same time..from what ive read it isnt very $$ or difficult..

as long as its drivin by a rear mount dist. you can use the 3rd gen brackets and accesseries...you cant becasue the LT1 hub pully setup is about an inch farther out then the SBC balancer/pully setup

Plug up the cooling ports--Check

Is it possible to make a bracket to mount to the acc. bracket and then to the heads? If not, no big deal.

What is different in how the 165 and 730 ECM's will handle the LT1 setup? Basically it will be coverting to SD correct? I'd like to do that anyway (so I can get into doing my own tuning) and hear it runs around $100, so not bad.

Do you have this setup on your car? Know anyone that does? I'm going to run the XE 224/230, along with bolt ons (headers, CAI, etc) and am hoping for 320rwhp I know...optimistic

i was ttryin to think of some way to make that other bolt line up,but after about 15 mins i moved on...after about 3 or 4 hours of driving time i checked them and then 2 weeks later i took them out (still very tight) and put some loctite ont hem and havet thought about it since..

the 730 will be a faster ecm...kinda like home PC's sure the pentium11 350 on cable does a great job, but a 8300 on cable will do it better....and like you said its 100 bucks and it allows for a lit more tuning becasue its a better ECM...

I have the brackets and accesseries, but my lt1 is carbed..

with that cam you should be pretty close to that....im gonna be close to 330-340 crank with the stock 94 LT1 cam LT4 heads and boltons.....so you shouldnt have a problem getting those number out of it..
