lt1 for 3rd gen

Anyone know if there is a 82-92 PDF parts manual like the 93-02 manual or where to get it? I am going to do the LT1 swap (['96]been buying the parts for months as I get more money) and I need to know some stuff that isn't in the chilton or any other manual for that matter.

I was also wondering if it is possible to have the VATS system actually work on a third gen. From what I could see all I really need is the lock cylinder and key from a forth gen camaro plus a new BCM (so the PROM hasn't been burned yet. Is there a way to just get a new PROM instead?). Is there anything else I am missing? I keep forgetting to ask the chevy dealer here, but I don't really know how much help they can really be.

Also I need some sensors like the MAF. Where would be a good place to get one? Also would an LS1 MAF work on an LT1? I see that the LS1's MAF has a larger diameter for better airflow and seems to be selling for less on ebay. Do they have the same connection? Know where to get an actual knock sensor that plugs into the block (the sending unit not the module)?

Should I buy a fuel pump for a third gen camaro or a forth gen or are they both interchangable?

Everything you need to know about LT1 and LS1 swaps at thirdgen.org

ZO6 MAF from Granatelli is programmed for an LT1 and comes with an LT1 pigtail. We put one on my friends 82 T/A with a 96 LT1.

Walbro 255lph intank pump is the pump of choice.

Isn't the Granatelli like $270 though? I am on a budget and I have a limited time (oct 20 is my deadline, but I would like to get all the parts before that).

If I am going to install a flowmaster exhaust system, can I get other headers than shorties? I hear they can really bog down performance because the wave tuning would be for lower rpms and is more for space conservation and adaption rather than performance. Anyone know if this is true? Are the exhaust manafolds at a different location/angle relative to the exhaust manafolds on the Gen 1 motors?

Also I know speedpro is a good piston maker, but would Kieth Black be any better? They CNC their pistons instead of cast which is stronger and more durable. They sell piston rings with them too (plasma moly or whatever it is). Which is better: a piston that uses a floating piston pin or a press fit piston pin?

I plan to have the heads (they are the second series of LT1 cast iron heads that are supposed to have better flow and used in the 9C1 police package) cracked tested, fully ported and polished, maybe resize and center the valves. Should I get new bronze inserts and does anyone know how much that or any one service would cost?
