LS6 into 3rd gen

I was just wasting some time looking at the GM Performance Parts site and noticed they have the whole LS6 crate motor now. Just wondering how different, if at all, it is from a LS1 swap. I know the LS6 uses a different transmission, so how would that go in? I'm not going to be doing this swap or anything, I just want to know what others think or if they have any info because I find it interesting.

the LS6 uses the exact same transmission......if anything it has a few very minor internal differences to compensate for the 406 "crank" horsepower.

a LS6 for the better part is a few little things here and there like the intake change and a different cam. there is actually alot of things but these are the most significant.

as to the relivance of putting one in a thirdgen. sure it's a cool idea, but it's a LS1 with a few hop up parts. is it any different in the install? nope.

is it worth the huge price tag? to some, but not really anyone who is conservative.

i wanted to do a LS6 in mine as well, even had a few of the parts. changed my mind. it isn't worth it, i can build a healthy sbc and run circles around a LS6 all day.

Im gonna agree with kandied on this one. Just the exhaust work alone that needs to be custom is gonna cost a fortune. But to some with no budget, it is neat to do the LS-1 swap. Ive considered it, but decided not too.

Soon to come...BOOST!!

i think it would be great to see....i love seeing LS1's in cars let alone a LS6.

it just isn't worth the big price tag unless your one of those that has to be first on the block and have some deep pockets.

Definatey nothing wrong with an LS6 swap into a 3rd Gen car topped off with an NX 150 kick in the pants

If someone wants to do it and show me the end results, i'll cheer them the whole way through.
