LS1 transplant.

Approximately how much would it cost me, including the price of the LS1(which I would rebuild myself), could I put an LS1 in my car. Including wiring and all modifications needed.

LT1?

LT1 is a pretty straight forward install - especially if you do it sans-A/C.

LS1 is a bit more complicated since the mounts aren't the same and whatnot..... Nothing too difficult but it does take some fab skills from what I have seen/heard.

Is this something you are just going to take in and have done and want a price on? Or are you thinking of doing this yourself?

You can head over to the motor-swap forum on www.Thirdgen.org for more info on the LT1 and LS1 swaps.....

If you're doing the work yourself, you're gonna save some money.

LS1 will be around $3-4k or maybe you can get one cheaper. Then you'll need a whole new drivetrain, I don't know how much a whole drivetrain will net you ($2-3k?) Tranny, obviously. Then you'll need the whole pcm and wiring etc. Custom mounts and the likes. Even some more little things. Labor, when needed.

You're looking around $10 grand for the project.

I'm sure it could be done for less, and has been, but that's my guestimate. You can pick up a nice used 4th gen LS1 for only 2-3000 more.

Honestly, with the prices of 4th gens where they are right now, it would cost you about as much to transplant an engine and trans as it would to buy the entire 4th gen. Sad, but true.

You could have a 406 stroker for the price of what it would cost to install a LS1. Now do you want to go high 12.9 with a LS1 or go low 11.3 with a 406. Just my .02

I love the LS-1 no doubt, but I dont think this swap is worth it. The LT-1 swap is worth it, but the Ls-1 swap as far as I know cant be done for much less than 8K. A pretty mean stealth ram 350 can be mated to a t56 for that price. Well, thats what I think anyway.
