Looking to build a sweet stroker but need some help
I just finished building a 350/Double-Humps for a a guy with a '72Monte, and it's easy to see why they will flow pretty good. With bigger ports and 2.02"/1.6"valves, and just need a good bowl-port clean up.
BUT, I am now in the process of realigning brackets and puleys b/c "Double-Humps" are NOT drilled for accessory brackets and do NOT have flat bracket mounting pads. Meaning I had to have them carefully machined by a GOOD shop. Now I have to fab spacers to line up all 3 ! belts. The water pump and the crank line up perfectly ofcourse, but the power steering pump is an SOB! and the alternator only needed some minor work.
If he wasn't so insistent on having a "period correct" type motor, I'd have made him pick other heads..
I second..AVOID..

I recently built a 383. You can check out the details of my 383 buildup here:

Some of that won't apply since it is EFI. I had all of my machine work and short block assembly done by TPIS. I assembled the rest from there myself... Normally I would do it all myself, but I just didn't trust myself with the splayed main setup and all the money I spent on the lower end parts this time
. In other words don't be afraid to do the work yourself if it isn't that "exotic" of a setup.
