Angry Limited Slip died???

So at the track Wed, I would of course do burnouts to warm up my tires. The only tire that EVER spun was the right tire, there was rubber coating my wheel-well, fender, just everwhere. But on the left tire there was not a sign of rubber. AND, my brother was there and told me only my right tire was spinning. This could, naturally, count for my 2.2 second 60's.

What is the cause of this? I know for a fact the posi used to work. Do I need a new rear-end or what's the deal? Thanks for your help!!!

I did cut a best of 14.3 @ 96ish with stock intake/engine/2.73 rear. Hooker Comps and weight reduction are the basic mods.

the clutches in the limited slip carrier could be wore out. i wouldnt be surprised if that was it seeming as its an 89 and especially if its the original rear.

Sounds like your posi cones are burned up....they tend to go after 100k miles or so. You can get cones for the 9-bolt from http://www.diffsolutions.com.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I would assume that my posi unit is burned up. Had fluid last time I checked and no sign of leaking. Gon'a check again though.

Is the posi unit something fairly straightfoward to fix? Or is it better left to a shop? And if I do it myself, is swapping gears that difficult? (2.73's are what's in there now.)

Rebuilding a posi isn't that tough, but if you're gonna change the gears while you're in there you should get it done by a pro. Setting up the gears is somewhat tricky, and if you don't do it just right the rear will whine or possibly lock up. Keep in mind if you wanna go to a steeper gearing you'll have to change carriers too, and that also means buying a new posi.
