How long did it take you? I need to put in my days off for work and need to know how many to ask for. 2 days should do it, no?

If it goes reasonably smoothly it's a weekend install.

 

Just make sure you are prepared in case it's not a smooth install. This includes all the parts you will need, and an extra vehicle for runs to the parts store for the "little things" that always get forgotten.

Of course it's nice to have a business card from the friendly neighborhood tow service. Just in case you need a shop to do the install when you get frustrated with it.

 

I'd get Friday and Monday off. That way, you could work on it and if you really get stuck or need a critical part, you could overnight it and get it by Monday. Make sure you have that beater tho.

This is assuming you have never done it. Make sure you have someone who can bail you out if you get really stumped. Fri and Sat would be good in case you need tools.

 

also remember its a weekend install assuming you have ALL of the right tools because as soon as you start having to create make shift tools a 1 hour job turns into 5 hours. Took me and my buddy 5 hours to do one engine mount although that includes a trip to the hardware store and jacking the car etc (i have the smallest jack youve ever seen its awful im getting a new one asap) and we onyl got one mount done Anyways from my experience any projected time takes 5 to 10 times longer in real time.

 

Give yourself plenty of time to take a break when things start to stump you. Also have plenty of beer handy.

 

Beer wont stop your hand from bleeding, but it'll make it feel a hell of a lot better

 

It depends where you are doing it and what tools you have. I could do that job in one night at my buddies farm where I work on my stuff all the time. Then again they have two lifts, and over head hoist and just about anything esle you would want. In my shop back home it would take a day. Doing it at home in the driveway should be an easy weekend job for you.

Having helped someone do it and never done it myself, I can attest that it makes it easier when you are doing it to raise the car on 4 jackstands. Gives you a little more room and safety. Also, it helps to have more than one jack especially when you are trying to hoist that tranny up.

I just completed this swap about a month ago. I started at 830pm and was done by 630am. I had one helper, and had to weld/fabricate a torque arm mount. The car is my daily driver so i had to get it done in a night, it is totally possible.

Sweet man, thanks! I'll have my Dad helping me, he knows a lot about this stuff. I think I'll just ask for Saturday/Sunday off. I can't wait! I have everything needed, other than the Pro 5.0. Whenever it finally gets here I'll begin!

No problem man, my email is mhaskell@juno.com also i dont knwo if you bought the PRO 5.0 yet, but i had it and changed to the ripper billet shifter instead, feels much better to me, but both are still worlds better than stock.
