k&n filter for 92 Z28

i'm looking for a k&n filter for my 5.7 liter 350 in my 92 camaro z28.i was lookin for the oval type that would mount right onto the throttle body, eliminating the duct type intake and filters. anyone know of any ? i think there is some out there, jus not sure where. ? ? thanks again everyone

Your intake air will be cooler if you grab it from in front of the radiator, as opposed to hot engine compartment air. You have no flow sensor in front of the TB?

I just kept the stock cold air plumbing on mine, and threw in a set of K&N filters in the stock locations. Works just fine.

You have done the throttle body water bypass, haven't you?

No, 85-89 TPI setups use a MAF sensor in front of the throttle body to measure the incoming air, while the 90-92 TPI have a MAP sensor mounted on the plenum to measure the vacuum, or engine load. Its a straight shot from the filters to the throttle body.

Camaro's run so hot I would say avoid grabbing the air from the inside of the engine compartment. Its an oven in there...and as usual hot air isn't good for the car.

Re: k&n filter for 92 Z28

I bought one from Jeg's years ago, and I think they still have it. Look under their TPI/LTI/LSx section.

I took it off after someone told me it was bad for the motor/performance because of the heat and all, but I never noticed it one way or the other. I do recall it making a loud hissing/whistle sound (no, not an air leak) at certain RPM's that I thought sounded pretty cool.
