K&N Air Filter to Throttle Body #

I was wondering if anyone had the K&N air filter number that would screw right to the throttle body instead of going threw the air ducts. Its a TPI.

Thanks in advance

make sure you have a speed density setup and not a MAF. if you have MAF, the computer wont function properly

does this just fit the stock throttle body, or will it expand to fit a twin 58mm? because i might be getting a 58mm TB this winter, but i need an air filter right now...

What year car? BTW, they are right that it will suck hot air unless you have some sort of ram air hood that plumbs cold air into the top of the engine

even if you don't have plumbing to bring in cool air, it is way less restrictive than the stock thing with the 2 little sqaure filters...what would be the best place to pull nice cool air from?

and whats the difference between one of these and an open element filter for a carbed or TB engine? people see dramastic changes when switching from stock aircleaner to open element, some people say its like dring a new car....and that sucks hot engine air...but does anybody know if this K&N 1000cfm will fit over a twin 58mm throttle body?

It has fit mine before except with the SR setup I have, it bumps into the hood but you should be fine.

My air plumbing right now goes to a circular box and has a 3 inch opening aiming right towards a steel wall. It has 1/4" space between the wall and the opening to suck air in. The black piping rests on top of the radiator and that black piping gets REALLLY HOT. I could probably reroute the piping but I figured that black plastic is probably heating the air more then it would be if it was just engine bay air. I do eventually this summer want to get the RAM air hood like seen on the newer firebirds. I have a 92' Bird I know someone else asked. I work at AutoZone and I ordered one today. If I dont like it I'll just ship it back to K&N.

Thanks for the help. Some good points were brought up. Ill take them into consideration while making my decision.

SLP makes a cold Air induction kit for our cars. I have it and it is pretty decent.

ive seen people actually drill a hole where the air filter sits on the firebirds and run it below the chassy, scooping up cold air from the ground. that must work a whole lot better then the restrictive stock setup, and better then the filter on the front of the throttle body. when at a stop, the filter on the throttle body will be sucking in hot air from the engine. i believe the throttle body filter would work a whole lot better then stock though.

I put a large 8x4x3 K&N cone filter in place of the airbox on my 88 Formula. makes a loud sucking sound when I get on it now.

Best way for cold air is to fab up a setup like this,

This is a 4" mandrel bent tube that was originally on my friends 90 Formula 350.
