Just made some purchase's

I just bought me some FlowTech headers for my 84 Z28 305 H.O.I'm pretty happy with what i bought, should be installing them soon.

I've also got a performance chip(here waiting for install) and a stage 2 shift kit(should be on the way soon) to go on the car.

Any recomendations on what else to get, nothing to harcore,i'm only 18 and have a limited buget for the car right now.I'm thinking intake(but which one??)

Peace
Kyle

I would do the rest of the exhaust first.

Flowtechs are better than stock manifolds, but you could have researched a little more and made a wiser buy. The Flowtechs have small 1.5" primaries, while nearly every other manufacturer makes 1 5/8" or larger. Still they will make good power and sound decent too.

I'd HIGHLY recommend doing the entire exhaust in one shot. Use either your Flowtechs (or whatever headers you choose), along with a Catco 3" catatlytic converter, and a Hooker 3" catback. The combination of the Flowtech headers, the Catco cat, and the Hooker catback combines the three most cost effective products for a much better exhaust than stock. Regardless, settle for nothing less than a full 3" mandrel bent tubing from the y-pipe back

Expect 5, maybe 10HP tops and a little more noise with just the Flowtechs. Doing the entire exhaust system will yield much greater gains, probably in the 25-30HP region. Possibly even more if you have a genuine L69 high output 305.

Send the chip back and use that money elsewhere. A chip does squat for the carbed cars. You'd see more gain from a slight bump in base timing. Besides, Canadian cars do not use computer controls.

If you do decide to replace the intake, and emissions are a concern, go with Edelbrocks Performer EGR. Its barely better than stock, but its your only option for EGR. If emissions are NOT a concern, which I assume is the case since you live in Canada, go with Edelbrocks Performer RPM QJet. Its an excellent intake, and should clear your hood - it clears mine.

The addition of the full exhaust and intake manifold should put you deep into the 14s, and making close to 240-250HP.

full exhaust and gearing i would say would be your next mods. I wouldnt put anything on the motor that didnt aspire to bigger plans because it just costs too much to make the 305's go fast

SR and HSR are for fuel injected cars arent they? his is carbed aklim.

you dont need emmissions because yours is an 84, but id put on a highflow cat or at least a hollowed out cat, people down here in barrie are getting pulled over and inspected for emmissions equipment

they had fuel injection HO's in 84? Because if you have a carb, why would you buy a chip? Even if you do have FI, i would also send that chip back and spend the money elsewehre...

The chip was only like $20 CDN,My car has very little computerization but it's still there, and it was a little something from the parents.

I realise there are bigger and better headers for my car but the flowtech's were also alot more in my price range right now(cost me $138 CDN after taxes).I'll look into the rest of the exhaust soon, nee to rebuild the account a little after these and the B&M shift kit.

Where i live Emissions WERE a problem for me but my car is outside of the restriction by a year

Thanks for the tips

Don't know how I missed that one! B&M makes a decent shift kit for the older 3 speed autos (TH350, TH400, etc), but the kit for the 700R4 is junk. It will give you 2 things: 1) an excessively firm shift thats guaranteed to chirp the tires and spin you out in the rain, and 2) a trashed transmission. I've heard nothing but horror stories about mixing B&M's shift kits with the 700R4's... If you want a shift kit that's actually beneficial to the transmission, get the TransGo unit.
