It's alive!!!
My cousin finally got his 85 Z28 (from this thread) running with the 383.
Long story short, the engine was in the machine shop for about 6 months, and we got it back last week. It was dyno'd at the shop and made 460HP/480TQ. Pretty impressive for a 383 with Vortec heads and RPM air gap intake. Took all day to get everything in place and bolted up, with a few parts borrowed from other cars.
We finished it at 10:30, and it has open headers, so of course we took it around the block. It's fast, and once a better carb goes on with exhaust, it should make for a fun ride.

Re: It's alive!!!
I'm not sure on the cam specs, but I can tell you it has a very healthy lope. We started it up with a 750 cfm Edelbrock carb, but I think he plans to put on a Holley 800. Oh, and we made sure to get forged pistons for the spray.

Re: It's alive!!!
Thats flywheel, as tested at the machine shop.
I was pushing him to go with AFR heads, but the budget didnt allow.
I dont know what kind of cam it is, I'll have to get the numbers soon. The guy that did the machine work is an old race engine builder, and he recommended and bought the cam.
