I would bet on the IROC-Z weighing a little less. Even if its a little. The air bag steering wheel and stuff weighs like 25lbs. itself. The bigger GFX and spoiler have to weigh in more.

I'm not sure if the Z28 went back to the earlier Z28 suspension or not, I just know they don't have the WonderBar. Which definetly helps. The engines in the both have pretty much no differences besides slight 1's.

Thumbs up

remember that it takes 100 lbs for ever .1 when racing.......in otherwords it has to be alot more than a suposed 25lb airbag system; which doesn't weigh that much and a 10 lb fiberglass spoiler.....if it weighs that much.

point being, with the newer z28 you get all the same features (except the wonderbar) but just updated with a few more additions.

either one you can't go wrong so long as you pick the style you want. i know i wanted an iroc until i saw the 91-92 z28......finding a 350 that's in good shape is nearly impossible where as irocs have a broader range making it a little easier as well as alot cheaper.

i myself thought it was worth the search and extra money to have the 91-92 style...some don't it's all preference. but, no matter what anyone says there are differences here and there.......enough to separate the years apart and make people iroc or z28 lovers....pick your side and be happy!

I just find it very hard to understand why GM wouldnt put the newest, most updated suspension in the Fbodies. But instead down grade them. If you took a Fully Loaded 1990 Iroc and a Fully loaded 1991 Z28 i bet the suspension would be EXACTLY the same. And the weight difference wouldnt afect anything at all.

I have to say that I prefer the 91/92 Z's but that's only because I have one. And from what I've been told it's a nice one. Rebuilt L98 270 Horse 380 Ft LBS (Fly Wheel of course) Some pics in my Sig and if the price is right it might be for sale!

heres a question...how much weight is lost with t-tops?

as per topic, i would go with the 91-92 with the 350 or even an RS with a 350 swap (or were they an option?) nothing like a sleeper!

i have an 82 z28...and everyone KNOWS that the stock engine was a 305 at about 165 horse (with tbi)...but with my 350 in it, it puts out close to 200 hp at the wheels...have surprised many a mustang and corvette with this car...

my next mod is to build up a 383 stroker and put in...then i'll be surprising all the 4th gen cars as well!!

good luck on your decision and your hunt!

The speed density cars gained some power because of better tuning. Pretty marginal though. I personally like the speed density setup as its easier to burn your own chips...

Didn't mean to confuse anyone.

So far the way things look it looks like I'll just have better luck just looking for the IROC and getting a Z28 wing, which is probably the big Z28 appeal to me anyways now that I think about it. I used to like the Z28 wheels too, but saw a Camaro on the internet with a set of Corvette rims. Looked VERY cool.
