Installing Hurst Shifter

I got a hurst shifter for my birthday (big 18 ) I was wondering how long and how much of a pain its going to be to install? Do I need to get under my car at all?

You don't need to get under the car to change the shifter on a 5 speed. Just remove the console, lift the carpet and take the bolts out of the rubber boot on the floor. Unbolt the shifter, clean the mounting area, add a small amount of silicone sealer, put some grease in the plastic "cup" that the shift lever sits in, set the shifter down and bolt it in. Should be 2hrs tops.

Have fun!

PS Make sure your shift **** will come loose from your stock shifter before you tear anything apart. They get stuck sometimes and you can't get the console off the shifter if you have the **** on it.

Turn real hard to the left, it unscrews, also it will only take about 30 mins. it is not hard at all. i to had the same question about my hurst when i got it, people told me 2 hrs. not true, it took me 30 mins. it is so much better with a short throw...

I can't remember but unless you can reuse the stock cable (I don't think so) you will have to crawl under to adjust it unless they changed something.
