bad luck with the fuel pumps. i dont know. it just wont hold pressure, and now just recently it wont pump enough fuel. it is a after market higher pressure pump granttie. i am not sure if thats the right spelling. i hooked a gauge up to the pump from a fuel line and i am only getting 5psi from the pump, and in the rail nothing. but it turns on and runs

just plum it in line and run your standard power to it. i wouldn't say it's more reliable though. i had one and it caused alot more problems so finally i spent the extra money and got a nice walbro pump. very happy with it.

Granatelli pumps are the Walbro ones AFAIK. I have had one and it works well. In any case, how do you know it is not your fuel pressure regulator that is shot?

DO NOT START THE CAR DOING THIS TEST.

Clamp off the fuel return line with a set of vise grips and turn the key to see if the fuel pressure goes up.

i had the return line off and no fuel at all came through it. that leaves me to think that there is not enough pressure in the fuel rail to open up the regulater. some one told me the check vavle in the pump could be bad too cause it would build up pressure and then drop it.

Stupid question but are you getting 12V to the pump? I recall that when I hooked up a scanner, it told me how many volts to the pump but I would get a DVOM onto the pump leads.

If you want to go with an inline pump, best thing to do is get a fuel pickup from a carbed car.
My car was carbed so I just put an inline pump near the back of the car and left the tank alone.

Here is a spare carb pickup I have,

Are you getting 12V or what at the pump. I suggest you solve the problem first instead of just throwing parts at it. 3 pumps in a short time is not usually just coincidence. My stock 91 pump was replaced this year because I was changing the tank and didn't want to have to do it again to get to the pump. It was working fine.
