Injectors and fuel pressure
Injectors and fuel pressure
To make a long story short, i was at the local Hooters car show last week and ended meeting the guy that built the motor in the camaro we just picked up.
Quick refresh - 350 .040 over, S/R Torquer heads, ZZ4 cam, 1.6rockers, long tube headers, ported runners and plenum.
He answered a few questions the guy i bought it from couldn't. The computer came out of a 350 trans am (stock chip) which probably explains its irratic idle and rich fuel mixture. He said he kept the stock 305 injectors and just bumped up the fuel pressure. Im going to order a chip for the car because its going to eventually foul out plugs and i KNOW the chip will put the motor to its full potential. So now im left with this...
Do i get 350 injectors or perhaps bigger.. or leave the 305s in there?
Do i put the fuel pressure back down (i dont know what its at now i havent checked)
Also, its a 52mm TB, should I upgrade to the 58mm? what is recommended with the 58s over the 52s? its 10:1 compression, 190cc intake runners, 2.02/1.60 valves. Im thinking 58mm.. more air = more power, and i will probably upgrade the runners eventually since the stock TPI runners bottleneck around 4500RPM. Any of this sound on target or am I way off? Im a carb guy so i need some help guys.

I'd definately go with 24 pph injectors. Stock were 19 and 22 for the 350. Forget the AFPR. Get it done right in the EPROM by changing the pulse width otherwise it will run right at one point and may not do it at others.
Only upgrade the intake to a 58 if you are doing other intake stuff. If you are going with the stock intake, don't bother.

leave that 52mm, it will do all you need . The 502 chevy crate motor has a 48mm on it ...... and it has 500 hp ....so that will do your 360 ( or whatever .040 over is ) I am running dam near the same setup .....and I am sticking with the stock 48 ....that isn't the weak point . I say siamese the plenum ....and get some runners to go with it. Go 24 lb SVO's .....people sem to really like them around the net. Get some sort of intake base if you can ....I am running the Edlebrock highFlo ...... but there are better alternatives.... like the Stealth Ram
( my next one )hope it helps a little

thanks for the responses guys! ill look around for those 24lb injectors and start pricing out some intake bases and runners.
One other thing.. are all Bosch II design 24lb injectors the same? I just saw a few sets on Ebay, some out of a cobra, another set out of a navigator. Is a 24lb injector the same reguardless of what it fits?

I believe the reason to go with say the 58 TB is that it improves response. Friend of mine went slower with the stock setup0 and the 58 mm one. I would suspect that it lets too much air into the system and the runners have a problem with the flow. I know that it did not seem to make much of a difference with the 58 TB as opposed to stock but according to the datalogs, the response time seemed faster.
