A recent theft attempt on my car has left me with a few problems. The connector that connects the lock cylinder to the rod that moves the ignition switch was broke off....and the rod is exposed because they broke out part of my column, so im trying to install new wiring for a different keyswitch, a push button start switch and i have a toggle switch for added protection. I ripped apart a spare ignition switch and figured out all the connections for on start and acc., but after i hooked everything up my car will turn on but not start. i can start it when i put the harness back into the regular switch and move the rod by hand but my new setup isnt working. Ive tried all sorts of combinations of wiring from using relays to running wires from my switches straight to the harness. My question is has anyone installed anything like what im trying to and if so how is it all hooked up? Im stumped and i need to get my car running again.
If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

 

have you dealt with the VATS?
probably the reason it was an atempted theft and not an actual

 

I have the VATS bypassed, i was thinking it might be the clutch start enable switch, but i dont know where it is or how to bypass it. Plus i could use a wiring diagram that is a little more detailed than the one i have that tells what each of the wires coming out of the switch are for.

 

its down behind the pedal, big yellow and purple wires I believe. To bypass it you connect the two wires

 

Finally got it. Wired it similar to the way Landry says but i just ran a switched wire to the tan wire on the little relay in the kick panel. If anyone wants a schematic on how to install new switches ill be happy to share the info i have.
