Question I think my coil is stock but my distributers not??

So I was out working on my car today, and as I was looking at the distributer I noticed that the black part on top (the coil right? So i'm dumb sue me ) said delco something-or-other. Anyone know if that's the stock coil? If it is, would I be better of getting an aftermarket coil for better performance??

It's stock, should say AC Delco.
You can put a hotter coil in it, will help with start up, but it will not give you any more HP.

I heard that stock coils were only good to about 4500-5000 rpm. Any truth in that?
