how tight for the oil drain plug

how tight for the oil drain plug

i dont want to strip my threads but i also would like to stop the leak from my drain plug after i changed the oil could someone let me know how tight i should torque the oil pan drain plug? thanks

Get you a new plug with a nice little gasket on it....That would stop it cold!!!!

Do not over torque it....Break the head off and then you have some work ahead of you

Agreed. If you get it good and tight and it still leaks, replace the nylon washer or get a new plug. You DO NOT want to risk breaking it off or stripping the threads out of the pan, because you basically have to pull the motor to get the oilpan off these engines.

Yeah, new nylon washer time. Think: 1/3 as tight as a spark plug.
