how not to get your radio locked out
how not to get your radio locked out
hey guys how do you go about disconecting the battery or replcing it if its dying or if you need to do electrical work on a car that has a anti-theft radio that disables if you screw with it. my friends got one in her car and she wants me to fix something (ill be the hero hahahaa) and im a little afraid to screw with it and get her radio locked out. please help! let me know if you need more info, i dont know if you could give me a general answer thanks guys.
most radios like that just have a password that you punch in like on the preset buttons having to hit 29983 or something stupid like that. She has to know the code though to be able to do it. Not sure if theres a hackers way around it though *scratches head*
so how does a mechanic do work on a car or change the battery
if the person doesnt know the code of a second hand car that they purchased?
does anyone know if every one has a different code or does each model have a certain similar code.
so bassically all the newer 4th gen camaro guys know their code????
i hate this crap!! why do people gotta steal **** and make things difficult for hard working americans that just want to do simple **** on their car

I have heard that if you rig up a 9 volt battery through you cigarette lighter, the radio and ecm can remain energized. Be careful though, don't want to smoke anything.

*pats ur shoulder* its okay bud, mechanics usually look this **** up on the computer or have a book on it, just like a parts # book.
id say call up a GM dealer, or maybe just go onto their website and request the code, prolly gonna have to give them the VIN #
in my 89 RS, i had the stock anti-theft radio in it, my dad just ripped it out.
what does it mean to have it "locked-out"??
