how much lighter were the 90 and up camaros vs the older ones?

 

Weight on these cars depends on the installed options. But, comparing a later 90+ to an earlier car with similar options the 90+ will usually be slightly heavier. They have the redesigned interior with air bags, larger GFX, and heavier 16" wheels.

 

alot of guys say the 90+ is lighter... I have just about every option you could get with a 85 z28

 

If you mean 3rd and 4th gens, an 86 TA ws6 is 80 pounds lighter than a 97 TA ws6

 

My 85 Z28 is FULLY loaded. I've also added SFC's and 17" wheels. With a half tank of gas it weighed in at only 3230. I've never seen a 90-92 3rd gen come close stock, and certainly not a 4th gen.

 

that would be good news... I got a couple of friends who are doing chevelles (not even close to getting done like mine is) and all they say is how their cars are soooooo light at 4000 lbs so yeah... I dunno when I have insurance on my car I am gunna have to weigh it.. I know that my other friends 1980 z28 was 3800 lbs when we weighed it

 

Chevelle's are no light weights thats for sure, especially with a BBC. And the 2nd gens, particularly the later are unecessarily heavy. They were the heaviest of the F-bods.
