Re: How Many Revs = Too Many?

I had the TV cable adjusted wrong on my formula and it would spin to 5500 rpm just fine. It just wouldn't pull any harder after 46-4800rpm, it would just rev up and not accelerate, and no, the trans wasn't slipping.

Your asking me why a car designed for maximum HP at 4800 rpm's is shifting at 5500 rpm's?? Maybe you should be asking yourself this...

Whereas we know they all suck.
And I would be wrong for thinking this

Re: How Many Revs = Too Many?

well I have a 85 LG4, and I`ve built it up and the redline was tossed out the window so to speak lol

it`s a rebuilt stock bottem end, no work done to the bottem end at all except new bearings and the valve train is stock except for the springs and this engine has been reved to 7000 and 6500-7000 MANY MANY times and had no problem at all. so to me the LG4 is one hell of a good engine and the LG4 is gonna find a new home in a 81 olds culass this summer hooked up to a th350.

You're saying you hit 7k all the time on stock valvetrain? Is that with or without valve float?

Re: How Many Revs = Too Many?

I hit 7000 twice and 6500 TONS of times, but the engine stoped pulling at around 6200 I just reved it higher because I could I diddn`t really care if the engine blow but it never did. but ya I couldn`t even count how many times my LG4 hit over 6500 about 6700-6800, If I was just messing around which was alot I`d shift 1-2 at around 6800, which yes there was valve float 6500 is the limit on a hyd cam, if I was racing I`d shift just over 6000 about 6200.

I used to hit 6.5 all the time before I rebuilt the motor

^Well that's a different story than stock TPI runners Hoss And SLP runners would probably be a pretty damned sweet idea
