Houston we have a problem!!!!

I hear a whinning noise when I accelerat! Sound like its coming from my rear end! What could this be? I had the rear end bearing kit installed about 3 yrs ago, do they wear down that quickly....WTF! I baby the car, i never drive it hard.

What all would i need to do a rear end rebuild with gear swap? Will the pkg from Thunder Racing be enough? I need help asap, i don't wanna be stuck overe here. Any tech articles would be great also!

The whine may be your diff. itself starting to die, not the bearings. Did you replace that at the same time?

I just did the bearing kit. It still has the original differential installed. How hard of a job is it?

The diff is easy to replace if you are keeping the same gears. Just unbolt the old one, remove the ring gear, put the ring gear on the new diff, and pop it back in.

What would the difference be if I replaced the the gears with 3.42's? Do they make a replacement for the series 2 carrier?

If you're going with the Thunder Racing setup I'd call them up. They have treated me well in teh past. As for how hard it is? Well, I wouldn't attempt it and I have redone my motor 3 times and done countless other things like a T56 swap into an A4 car. Its somthing that should usually be left to the professionals. I paid $600 for a complete swap from 2.77's to 3.73's.
