hood won't latch cannot figure it out?
hood won't latch cannot figure it out?
hi guys,
the hood will not latch, i have taken a bunch of washers and put them on the hood cross member piece that comes down onto the latch, lowering it another 1/2 inch but she will not go.
i have put the white lithium grease to her.
i can take a screw driver and do down straight simulating the hood and it comes over.
i have tried moving the cross member to both xtremes left and right with no success.
i look under the hood and look for obstructions but cannot find any.
do the latches go?
any ideas?
any1 else ever had this problem?

I dont understand that part. If you're talking about the thick 'U' bent piece that is only connected w/ 2 bolts (which i think u are) sometimes it can be bent and a lot of times, the latch assembly itself down in front of the core support can just be a pain in the ***.... i wrecked my '84 and I remember spending about an hour goofing w/ the latch upon rebuilding the front end of the car... the final product was to take some of the latch assemble frame (the pressed steel that goes behind it) and bend it back (via. HAMMER!) out of the way... good luck
