Hood clearence on a 3rd gen--LG4/Q-Jet....

My buddy has a 350 in his '88 Camaro. He's got the stock LG4 intake and the Edelbrock version of the Quadrajet. With an air cleaner, chances of it fitting look slim. Will he have any problems?

NOTE: Stock flat hood

It depends on the size of air cleaner. If it is 2" high or less there should be no problems.

I was running an Edelbrock 1406 Carb, Edelbrock 7101 Dual Plane Hi-Rise intake manifold, and an Edelbrock 14x3 Air Cleaner and it cleared my hood on my Trans Am.

Should fit just fine. You'll need to use a drop-base 14x3 air cleaner.

Typical drop-base air cleaners are designed for Holley carbs and the base portion will often hit on the accelerator pump arm on top of a QJet. Not by a lot, but many times it will hit. Easiest solution is a super-thick air cleaner gasket that will space it up about 1/4" and give you the clearance you need. Holley makes these super-thick gaskets.
