hesitation problems.

alright, we're getting to where we are fine tuning this engine. here's all we got in it. 750 cfm edelbrock carb, rpm airgap intake, vortech heads, 350 bored 30 over, nice cam, open headers, stock hei ignition, moroso 8.8 mm wires, acdelco plugs, 2000 stall converter mated to a turbo 350. now when we're at a stop, and get on the gas, it stutters and pops then goes. is this a timing issue? just curious as i haven't had anytime to work onit. i'm also gonna try to put some more gas in it and go again. but ohhhh boy, once this hesitation passes, this car screams.

Check the Accelerator pump on the carb.

it's a brand new carb, so i don't think there's anything wrong with the pump itself. should i adjust it so it pumps more fuel, or lean it out?

That's a lean stumble,("popping") you'll have to richen it up some on transition. I'm not real familiar with tuning an Edelbrock/Carter but it needs either a larger "accel-pump" shot and/or up sized primary jets. I'm not familiar enough with them to say how to modify their transition slots or air bleeds etc.

Sounds like a great combo, I'd like to see some times when you get it ironed out!

thanks 90roc. i see you're from springfield, ever go to kilkare?? we should be running up there quiet often. as far as the accelerator pump, theres three holes in an arm that has a shaft that connects to the arm that the throttle cable connects to. all i gots to do is switch that shaft from the middle hole in that arm, to the outer hole, and voila, more gas. also, i forgot to add this is a 10.5:1 compression engine. i'll definitely post times once we get her to the track. thanks
