my 3rd brake light on my camaro isnt working, i found that all 5 bulbs were blown, so i replaced em (had hell finding them, and when i did they are 11 bucks each!!!!!!) i could only find 4....the light still doesnt work....think it could be set up like an old christmass tree light, oe is blown so none work??

all my fuses look good, but the names/writting on the box is rubbed off....can sum1 help me find a pic of an 88 camaro fuse box???


grrrr i wunna get this thing inspected and PASS so i can have a daily driver of my own!!!!

 

I saw an 88 thirdgen camaro the other day and the bulb in the middle of the 3rd brake light was blown but the rest worked.So i am inclined to think its probably something else.Back when i had my 88 all of mine were blown to and i went to napa to get some more and they wanted like $8 a piece for them so i feel your pain on the price.Good luck and sorry i couldnt be more help.

 

Search on thirdgen.org you can buy them at radioshack for $4 each or somewhere around there. I think the third brake light not working is a cronic thing with thirdgens, mine never worked. Some jerkbag failed my saftey inspection for it but the other place didn't notice/care

 

ive got 4 of the bulbs.....all i wunna do is get the thing working so i can pass inspection, ppl round here care about that...plus i dont need some1 rear ending me if i happen to slam the brakes

 

i THINK i know whats wrong...is there a little switch by the brake pedal that engages/disengages the brake lights? cuz there is some devide that appears to be just that, and its snapped in half...i have pictures but i cant host pictures anymore...so if sum1 wants to im me on AIM - MotorBreath305 and i can show u the pix....thanks guys

I don't know if this info will help you or not but, I have a 87 vert and I have found out that the 3rd brake lite will not work if the trunk in open. I was wondering if you have the electric trunk lid or not because there is something tied in with the electric trunk that makes mine work.

 

i figured it out, the little switch was brooke, as soon as i pulled it out too look at it the lights would work untill i forced the lil switch to work....so all i need is a new one....i dunno how all 5 of the bulbs burned out tho


reason i never thought of it as being the switch is cuz i still heard the little *click* u hear when u tap the brake so i assumed it worked

 

That also, if I am reading you correct, controls your cruise control
