Question HELP!!!!!! failed emisions very badly!!!

took the car in last saturday to get the emisions tested and i deffinatly failed. the unburned gas is supossed to read 2.00 and i recieved. . . . 9.96 and the other one (slipped my mind for the moment) was supossed to be 30.0 and i recieved . . . . 146.72 what can i do to pass? its a crate motor, no cats, no egr valve. please help, i dont want to have to spend a lot of money to get this car to pass, any tricks i could use? im thinking about just setting up a quick set of cats that i could hook up with band clamps just for emisions, so i could take them off when im done, but i REALLY failed, so im not sure if cats are going to get me even close to passing. please help!!!

the first thing 2 check would be the spark plugs, if there covered with oil, coolant ect, it would weaken the spark and let more gas get thought.

if you dont have any emissions stuff on the car the only thing you can really do is make sure youre getting a clean burn. What LSA does the cam have? You may not be able to pass emissions tests legit with the motor you have you might end up having to pull scams and just pay the guy like 200 bucks.

im not sure what kind of cam it has in it because the guy that i bought it from said that it just had the stock one, but if you listen to the car you can clearly tell it has a mild cam, so im not sure if he was just screwing with me because he thought i didnt know what he was talking about, or if he just said it was stock because he knew i didnt pass emisions and just really wantd to get rid of it. and doing a cam swap is out of the question because i dont have the money to pay for labor.
a couple of friends of mine that have f-bods that cant pass emisions told me about just throwing the guy $100-$200 bucks and asking the guy to pass me. but has anyone else done this? did it work?

You NEED a cat and a egr

put a stock Qjet intake and a Q jet on with an EGR valve and a cat and you should pass

you will NOT pass with just a cat

You might need a carcoal canister to

I HATE E-TESTING

In many states (at least pennsylvania) if your car does not pass emissions, you can pay $250 for a waiver. Basically, it gives you your emissions pass sticker and you're supposed to "try" to get it fixed by next emissions inspection.

That's what I had to do the last year, as my mechanic couldnt reasonably figure out how to get it to pass... My new mechanic, this year, managed to get it to pass for $130 (including the fees for testing it twice) just by turning down the timing and cleaning/replacing some filters.

My brother who was a certified emisions tester said his emisions course instructer told him that a cat. from a Nission 300ZX will pass anything. I never heard of anyone trying though.

You need to get a CAT on there. My car recently went in for emmissions here in MO. I originally had 2200 ppm on the HC's & over the 1.2% CO. put on a CAT and it went down to 58 ppm HC and 0.0% CO. The CAT I used was from Random Technology. I also do not have a working smog pump but do have the EGR hooked up.

Waivers can only be obtained by bringing the vehicle to a state inspection station. When you come, you must bring your initial Vehicle Inspection Report, as well as the new Vehicle Inspection Report given to you at re-inspection. You also need to bring your emissions-related repair receipts.
Type in "emissions waiver" in google or something, then put in the state, thats from the NJ website...basically any car can get "waived" but you must show proof of parts/labor . That won't help me, I removed my AIR/smog pump.

get a high flow cat and it wont hurt your performance much at all. Past that i think you might still be screwed because without and egr your nox levels are going to be through the roof.

OK a Q jet is a factory 4 bbl carb for chevy V8`s and a Q jet intake is the cast iron intake that goes with the Q jet

so in other words get the carb and intake that came with it from the factroy or a intake that fits a EGR valve
