HELP-coil placement on a trans am

HELP-coil placement on a trans am

i am rebuilding my wifes (stock) 1988 trans am 305 TBI. instead of HEI it has an external coil. ive never worked on one of these before, i always throw my own engines in them. there is no bracket for the coil and i have no idea where it goes. can anyone help me... thanks

The external coil HEIs have the coil mounted on the intake, on a bracket to the pass side of the dizzy. At least that's how mine works.

FYI, its still considered HEI. The older HEI is called coil-in-cap, while the newer HEI is called divorced coil or external coil.
As said by Tremo, the coil is mounted to a bracket on the back passenger side of the intake manifold.
