Welcome car guy, now spill the beans! Your name begs the question(s)... Why are you spanking Nova's?

 

-Hello everone. My name goes back to when my stepdad and I were grudge racing. I have a '70 Cougar with a 362 cleveland and he has a '72 nova. The first motor we put in his car was a 402 big block chevy. Unfortanatly, he always had trans problems with the 402 set up and we never got any real times on that combo. So then I had my buddy build him a bad *** TH350. Well at the same time, my stepdad bought a Big Block 467 from his friend. To make it a complete package we droped in the 467 with the fresh trans together. So then the fun has now started. We raced an raced and raced so on... and he still could not beat me. It took at least 3 months of tuning to finally beat my little small block. I was pretty stoked that my little .060 over cleveland with only 251hp at the wheels was kill ing this BB car. We are both members on another site calle DFWStangs. I had to rub it in and one way was to make my user name "nova467spanker" . Just an idea of our times. I run a very consitant 8.14-8.19 in the 1/8 mile at 84mph. Not the fastes car but good for what I have done to it. He could not get out of the 8.2's forever. Since after I made my user name nova467spanker, It put a fire under his *** to make his car faster. And he did. His nova now runs consistant 7.4's in the 1/8 mile all motor. Anyways, its all in good fun. Any more questions, feel free to ask. I do have a couple questions, but I have to go to work right now. I will be on 2-night though to ask them.

-I love BBC's to. 7.5 is pretty good-your faster than me! What's your combination? I don't have alot of money tied up in mine maybe $5000 in the past 8 years. Averages out to $625 a year and alot of it was trial 'n error. My problem with my car is the trans right now. For one thing, I don't have enough stall for my combo. I have a 2500 stall but I realy need a 3000-3200. I think with a stall change and a few other things, I should be at 7.8 or so. After I do this to my car, then I will start playing with my wifes 83 camaro I just bought her. Oh well, got to go. -Matt
