Hedman Long Tube Spark Plug Problems

I've got a set of the $120 hedman long tube's 1-5/8" for 82-92 camaro goin in my 89 RS, 383 stroker tunnel ram motor with edelbrock victor jr angle plug heads.

I have a set of AC Delco rapidfire plugs, the Delco version of the NGK BKR7E plugs, and the number 3 header tube gets in the way of the plug.

Hedman say "clears angle plug chevy heads"... well, obviously it doesnt, and it doesnt clear a few other things either which i've had to grind on to install the damn things.

Does anyone have any experience with this and tips? If I don't find any info tonight, I'll hafta ding the header tube for clearance tomorrow morning.... I've tried to find Accel Short Header spark plugs but they dont seem to have em for my application.

If anyone has any information about this then please post it here asap before I go beat the hell outta my #3 header tube.

You could try Accel Header plugs. I use those with my headers and dont have a problem.

I was lookin at the accel header plugs n they're not short enough, they would clear the header but the boot would burn up so thats a no go. I suppose hedman didnt expect people to be using good heads with $120 headers so didn't take into account that some heads have raised exhaust ports, or perhaps I got a bad set, who knows, but im not taking the risk so Hookers it is.

Also made a mistake, its the #1 header tube getting in the way of the #3 spark plug, not the #3 tube, not that it matters :P

I have hedman longtubes that I bought used. The previous owner dented the #1 tube right under the #3 plug.
I just put a plug into my head and it seems on an LT1 with angled plugs that you don't need to dent the header.

That plug looks aweful close to the header tube - doesnt the plug boot hit? i can get the header and a plug on mine too but the spark plug just touches the header, even if i dented it, the boot would still hit big time n burn up.

I'll put a plug boot on it tomorrow and double check.
I think the angle of the pic makes it look closer than it really is.

If you have to, perhaps try using the Accel 9000+ extreme which have some sort of coating on the boot. That and put some sort of boot protector on it.
