Hedman Headers

Anyone use the 68470 header? It is the shorty without the AIT ports. I have a line on these with ceramic coating and the y pipe for like $350 new. Anyone?

get long tubes dude, there's a noticeable difference between the two. my neighbor had slp shorties i think on his ls1, and then switched to hooker long tubes about 2 weeks ago. i felt a SOTP difference the day i rode in the car with the lt's installed.

I would assume that would create some clearance issues. The TA sits pretty low as it is. FL has flat terrain, but the roads have drainage issues that already scrape the air dam.....

i've had a set of the hedman shorties on my '87 for six years now, and they are uncoated. they have worked well for me. if you want a set of the painted headers, i have a brand new set still in the box that i will sell for 80$ including shipping. then, you could go to jegs and get a hedman y for 99$. if you are dead set on coating, you could send off the headers for coating and still be under 350$ for the whole package. think about it.

One comment. Hedman usually have smaller diameter primaries.

I've been running coated Hedman shorties on my 355 for about 8 months and have only good tings to say about them. They fit very well, no clearance issues, and are very well-put-together. I had my Y-pipe fabricated though, so I can't say anything about thiers. Great headers for the money.

they are 1 3/4" primaries with 3" collectors. the comparable hookers are 1 5/8" primaries with 2.5" collectors.

y do u say that? SLP headers have the same diameter...unless u go to the 1 3/4" . most all headers for our cars have 1 5/8" diameter primary and most of the time 3" collector (like hedman),or like ktm just said, the hookers have a half in less diameter collector and im sure they are a little bit more money.

Interesting!
The Hedman Header site I looked at states that the part #68470 headers for 82 to 91 Camaro's are 1 5/8" primaries with a 3" collector.
The Hooker site states that part #2460HKR Comp. Headers for 82 to 92 Camaro's are 1 5/8 primaries with 3" collector. The same for the part #2055HKR super comps. - 86 to 90 Camaro's.
Where as, most Camaro headers may be 1 5/8" primaries, there are several that have the 1 3/4" primaries.
Besides this was just info. not a judgement call. There are many reasons why a person might want smaller primaries.

get 1 3/4'' if your pushing 450+ hp. if your not, they're too big and you'll be losing some hp. im sticking with 1 5/8 because it'll give me more power than the 1 3/4" for now. when i start pushing more hp and the 1 5/8'' is too small, then getting the bigger 1 3/4'' would help with some more hp. if i go 1 3/4'' now... i'd probably only gain 10 hp from the headers compaired to the 15+ hp i could get from the 1 5/8''

i stand corrected, the primaries on all hedman street headers are 1 5/8. their hustler series are available in a wide range of primary/collector sizes.
