Heads Too Big?

I just got my new motor back from the engine shop. It is a 350 block turned into a 383 stroker. It has Dart Platinum Iron Eagle heads with the larger runners and valves.

I have a Holley Stealth Ram manifold and plenum all ready to go. But when I laid the manifold on top of the engine last night, there is a hairline of port showing just above the intake manifold. Like the manifold is not quite big enough.

Anybody know if these heads are too big? Anybody been through this?

Did you use the intake gaskets when you put the manifold on top of the heads? What size are the intake runners on these heads and what are the dimensions of the intake port compared to the port on the StealthRam?

The largest size they make are 230cc intake ports and on a 383, that is fine. They are a great choice if you use enough camskaft and turn alot of rpm. I have 230's on my 396 with a 254/260 duration @ .050" cam and it sifts at 7000rpm. Makes good torque on the bottom also considering...

Like Kevin says, use the intake gasket to figure out what's going on. Line it up on the cylinder head for sanity's sake. If it lines up okay, move it to the intake manifold. THe gasket will tell you where the problem lies.

if its a 1206 port head like on the 215-230cc heads (i'm not sure if the 200cc heads are 1206 or not either tho) then the HSR is setup for a 1205 and its not gonna match well. If its a older HSR, then the manifold will not have extra material on the manifold to allow porting to a 1206 size. therefore it probly wont cover the ports all the way
