Holley just came out with a stealth ram baseintake, it is supposed to add 54 horses to a stock 92 Z, that would be a good option along with some AFR heads and a good cam, I would also change your fuel injectors to 24 pound injectors

The Holley StealthRam isn't street legal though.
I'd go with the Superram if you want to change the intake. But with those heads and a new cam and maybe some rearend gears you should be able to hit 12 seconds and maybe some headers

I like the Superram. When I installed them there was a noticeable difference. Same with the headers. After that, Lingenfelter burnt me a custom EPROM at his facility when I went there. You will notice even more from that. Much smoother in the acceleration. Even my car illiterate wife could tell the difference without my telling her what was done or that anything was done.

Here is the one of the best PROVEN Street Legal Setups!!

-AFR-190 Heads
-Superram Intake
-Superram 219/219 Cam
-Some tuning required (custom chip)

That camshaft is what Lingenfelter recommends for the Superram Intake and you can easily run low 12's. Other minor mods to improve it would be Accel 26# injectors, set of 3.73's, AFPR, 58mm TB, 1.6 RR, Drag Radials, and a few suspention mods (LCA's, Panhard Rod, Torque Arm). Some people have hit 11's with it and the best thing is that its a PROVEN setup that alot of people have tried and it worked!! Believe me, its a real pain when you try your own setup and it doesn't work out the way you want because the parts are not matched. Lingenfelter is a Super-Tuner and knows his cars!!

would ported stock heads work well with that combo?

-AFR-190 Heads
-Superram Intake
-Superram 219/219 Cam
-Some tuning required (custom chip)

Probably not. You could never get L98 Iron heads to flow as much as AFR's. My brother is doing that exact setup also. He has been researching every possible combo for L98 TPI's for the past year and found that this is the best. The only other alternative would be to get Trickflow heads that are CNC'ed, and they flow almost as much but after you get them milled down the price is the same if not more. If you won't settle for nothing less but the best for your car, like my brother, go with this setup. If you want a cheap superram, you would have search around, or find a used one. Ask people over at www.thirdgen.org

TFS heads are too expensive. I had my entire passenger side of the head with loose valves. They had worn out the valve guides so the pushrods wore out the pushrod guide plates. After that the #4 spring broke because of the wobbling and dropped a valve on the piston which broke. That broke my LPE shortblock which I had to get rebuilt. We took apart the heads and found that all the valves were loose on the passenger side and they were fine on the driver side.

STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM TFS HEADS is my opinion. that is unless you need boat anchors or door stops. I wouldn' use TFS anything if it was given to me free. 2 weeks after I had the heads installed, they sent me a set of guideplates because there was a QC issue. Guess who paid for the install!! When I called them up, they didn't know if my 74219 cam would work with the heads and 1.6 RR. I had to pay for them to be clayed to be sure.
