Headlight problem
Headlight problem
I posted this on TGO, so its kinda choppy. Can anyone help me out?
--Anyone have a wiring diagram for an '89 GTA headlight relay?
I did a search and only found diagrams of earlier years. My lights wont go up or down, and I want to do some diagnostics.
--Ok, update; the relay does apparently work. I can hear and see it click when I switch the lights on. On the 4 pin side, all wires (2 green, 2 gray) are seeing 12 volts in both the off and on positions. 3 of the 5 wires on the other side of the relay are seeing 12 volts in the off position. Dont remember which, and dont know about the off position. The motors both work properly off the battery, although the driver's side continues to run after the light is up. The **** never tightens in either direction.
--I put voltage/ground to both sets of gray/green wires at the relay, while the relay was disconnected. Then I plugged in the headlights again and they worked ok. This was the case for both sides. It just doesnt work if I connect the relay. All 4 wires, green and gray, have voltage in both on and off positions. WTF?
I am probably going to go get a new relay, and see if it fixes the problem.
--Forget about getting that new module. Just called dealer and he gave me a part number: 16523917. Dealer wants $170 for it and gmpartsdirect.com wants $96.
