What headers do you have? There is always the option of a ministarter.

I just got the plain headman hedders, i was told that i could get a starter for a 4.3 s-10 and everything would be fine but i really don't want to have to buy another starter

Are they long tubes or shorties? As far as the starter are you haveing problems getting it past it or will the header not sit against the block right with it? LT1 starters also work.

I have the hooker long tubes, and I had to unbolt the starter to put the headers in. Also, with long tubes you almost always need a ministarter. I was told that I would need a ministarter, but I was able to fit the stock one. I have an LT1 starter now that I plan on putting in though because the end of my starter is touching one of the primaries.

i guess i can try taking the starter out, putting the headers on, and then putting the starter back on.
thanks Momar

Yep, I went through "heat soak" after installing my TES Edelbrock headers. After my stock starter would not crank until it cooled down I went with a mini Hi-torque unit. Problem solved and I got to admit that it sounds really good turning over.
