Headers to Get????

I have a 305 TBI and right now I have a hooker cat-back. I bought a high flow 3" cat but I haven't installed it yet. I was wonder what you all thought were the best headers to get. They have to have all the air/smog stuff and not be super expensive. I am looking to pay around $350-$400. I have heard a lot about the Edelbrock T.E.S and the Hooker 2055's. I know I need to get the ones for the TPI cars because of the larger size. Any suggestions??

Definitely..... The edelbrock T.E.S. will turn brown within the first few minutes you run your car.

if iw as to buy headers again for anything else, they'd be Hedman. i have their shorties on my car (but w/ no AIR) and fit excellent...u wont have to hit them w/ a hammer at all. they werent coated and turned brown in a month or so,but after i pulled my motor again recently and swtiched to carb,i painted them w/ some stainless header paint and now they look awsome...arent as hot either.

so Hedman gets my vote hands down, they even make long tubes for a third gen too,as well as Hooker. go check out www.jegscom or www.summitracing.com and check them out.

Happy with my SLP ones. You would need the 1 5/8 ones because of your engine size.

Aklim,

Did you see the April Chevy High Performance yet? They checked out 4 sets of headers on a well built 383 and found that the 1 1/2" Flowtech el-cheapo shorties gave the most power down low and at mid ranges. They even recommend them for the street!

I'm pretty surprised, as I'd have thought the 1 5/8 or 1 7/8" longtube headers would produce the best power

Sitting Bull. I don't know will have to check out that article. You would have thought that we don't really need that much down low as opposed to mid range and upper.

I had Edlebrock headers and they cracked after 4 years! I called Edlebrock and they have yet to return my call! I will never use their products again especially with such poor customer service! I recenlty purchased a set of headman headers from A.C.S. coated. I'm still waiting for them. Either SLP headers or Headman. Stay away from tes!

I have the Edelbrok T.E.S. header on my car. I realy like them. they are rust colored now but I wasn't after looks so no biggie for me. But as far as the fitment and installation I didn't have any problems with them and the performance is great also. I only paid $320 for them and they came with the Y pipe also. I would buy them again if I ever build another F-body.
