This is for a 305, right? My suggestion would be Hooker SuperComp shorties, they are under $400 and are probably one of the best 1 5/8 headers out there. I doubt different brands of headers have any bearing on the loudness of the exhaust, that is more a function of the exhaust after the header.

i dropped .5 off my 1/4 mile time when i put my hedman shortys on. make sure to get them coated as it will help performance and keep them nice looking. mine happen to be for sale by the way

There is alot of difference in the sound. My current 87 Z28 LG4 has headers and with the cutout open it sounds alot different from when i had just a cat/stock exaust manifolds on my 88 IROC-Z L98. The L98 sounded like an old beat up pickup truck, my car now...ive had tons of people come upto me and say my car sounds really good I guess the headers sort of cleans up the sound.

Yes, there is a difference between the sound of headers and manifolds, but the difference in sound between different brands of headers is minor at best.

What do you guys think of that? 1 5/8ths, ceramic coated, 3" outlets. The Hedman shorties, ceramic coated, were $300...these are $130. Seemed like a good deal. They look considerably different though, maybe not flow as better? What do you guys think?

Damnit... Hrmmm, well I don't have the money to spend $300 on ceramic coated hedman's... How much of a difference is the ceramic coating? Why won't they fit an F-body?

the collectors are in the middle, so they would be prolly where the cross member is on our cars

those are my headers, they angle towards the back of the engine where they hook up to the y pipe

the ceramic coating isnt a must, but itll keep em looking alot nicer, cause they get rusty. they also lower under hood temps because more heat stays inside the tube

Just wondering if its worth the $200 on an econo build up?

Is there anyway, for the mean time, that I could attach my existing Y-pipe and catback to the headers? I don't have the money to get the headers on there, as well as custom build a 3" pipe back. So, would be nice if I could just hook that up for the time being, even if it does have less performance.

Thanks for all the help/advice.

youll have to get an aftermarket y-pipe to work with the headers. otherwise you can reuse everything after that. do you live in an area that has smog tests? if so, youll have to get headers with air tubes and a cat too=$$$
