Headders for GM fast Burn Heads
Headders for GM fast Burn Heads
Anyone know where i can find shorty headders for the gm fast burn heads that will fint in a 3rd gen camaro. i have long tube headders but a very tight fit.
thanks
thanks
I have a set of FastBurns (not yet mounted on my 409-400 plus .040) and a set of 1-3/4" SLPs (already on my '88 GTA).
The SLPs are not truely 1-3/4". Measured across the flange opening they are 1-3/8" (although the tubes are 1-3/4"). I will be spending some time "porting" my headers to fit my heads when I get ready to put the combo in the car.
True, the FastBurns are D-Port. And if you slap on most any header without checking the opening, you will have your exhaust coming out the port and running into a wall. Not good.

I don’t know what to do I have a set a hooker long tubes ceramic coated but will that work. I had them installed but the headers were hitting the frame and I would have to relocate my knock sensor. And if I get shorties would I have to port them to size because I want it as free flowing as possible because that’s why I have headers in the first place right.

I'm a stickler on such details. The flange openings were considerably smaller than the actual inside tube diameter.
When I swapped from the Edelbrocks to the SLPs, I seemed to gain little, if anything on my 5.7 '88 GTA. Of course, I had ported the flanges of the Edelbrocks by grinding out their poor excuses for welds.
My ported-flange Edelbrocks were actually larger at the opening than the non-ported SLPs I have on now. Tubes, of course, were smaller on the Edelbrocks.
However, the SLPs will be a match for the FastBurns when I get finished with them.
I can't stand giving away "free" horsepower. Just picky, I guess.
