Got the Rockers, Springs, and seals! Anything else?

Well, I just picked up the CompCams Valve Springs, CompCams Magnum Roller Rocker Arms (1.6 ratio), Felpro intake&exhaust and valve stem seals, and Felpro Valve Cover Gaskets.

Is there ANYTHING else that I need to purchase before this gets done? I believe the guy doing this for/with me has Silocon "gel" stuff for the valve gasket, and has an aircompressor with a fitting.

Anything I am missing? Thanks guys! I really appreciate it!!

(edit) Oh yes, I assume the oil will need to be drained? and when I unplug the battery, will the computer need to be reprogrammed when it's connected again?

Also, what should I do for the "break in" period for the rockers and springs? I have the lube stuff with the rockers, but do I take the engine easy or hard for a bit? or what?

Thanks bunches!

use positve seals on both, not just the intake. Also make sure you soke the rockers in oil. Good luck

How do I tell which is positive?

How long should I soak the rockers for? Just the rocker, or all the bolts that came with it as well?

Thanks bunches!!

Also go easy for the first 100 miles. Then after that do what ever you want.

Okay, when you got the valve stem seals you got two different ones correct. if so one seal is shaped like an umbrella and the other is the positive. the positive has 2 clips on it. The positive seal wll last longer and do better than the umbrella seal. so put the positive seals on both intake and exhaust. now for the rockers soke everthing in oil except the bolt because the bolt will not move once it is installed. Soke the rockers for about 15 minutes and turn the roller inside the rocker several times to make sure that the oil gets inside the bearings.

Well, here is a picture of what seals I have, there are also some little plastic straw looking things about 1 1/2 inch tall that arn't in the picture, and the instructions which lable the larger ones (center bag) as "Positive Intake"... but there are only 8 of them, so how would they go one both intake and exaust? Get another pack?

Thanks for helping me with this, I am new at engine parts

I'm pretty sure that my friend will know all of this stuff, but I'd like to at least know a little about it before I get there

(edit) hm... looking at the instructions for the Rocker Arms, it says "Old pushrods should not be used", is that just a suggestion, or should the old pushrods really not be used? That would be $100 more than I expected to pay for, which I don't have...

The bag in the middle is the positive seals. Just return the exhaust seals and get another bag of the intake seals. Now for the straws how many did you get. If you got two then these things are for the installation. you would put the straws on the valve stem then put the seal on then take the straw off. the straw keeps the seal from tearing up. Also use a socket to push the valve stem seal on, you will have to use a hammer to get it all the way down. Another thing, the bags on the left and right look like O rings for the valve stem. If so, you dont have to put them on because they do nothing. I didnt put them on mine. They install near the top of the valve stem and oil can still get beneath it. See this is an old method to keep the oil off the stem but GM was still in the stone age when they thought of this. You'll understand what im talking about when you take off the old ones.

for the pushrods, i would get new ones. You dont want to mess everything up and tear down the engine. make sure you put a little assembley lube or cam lube on the tips of the old or new pushrods.

Yea, I guess it would be better to wait a while to get money for all the right parts rather than having to wait to replace broken ones cuz I skimped out while buying new parts the first time.

Should I go ahead and look for CompCams Magnum pushrods to go with the CompCams Magnum Roller Rockers? Or would any pushrod do just as good?

Thanks!!

will work for a 350?

If so, then I'll get them. Best to order online? I found a store here in phoenix called "lopers Performance" and I got my rockers and springs for just over $200, I'll check the price there, they have tones of stuff in stock! (even a Weiand blower... which caught my eye...)
