Re: Good Cam Kit????

The new Summit catalogue list P/N "CRN-104224" - (214/220 duration at .050" - .452/.465 lift ),They now call them Crane PowerMax (emission legal, comes in both roller cam or flat tappet cam), you want roller style because a '90 engine already had roller lifters. Your stock L98 springs will handle the lift of the cam, your stock lifters and pushrods will work just fine. Ignore the notes at the bottom of the page saying for 305 only. I have no idea why they added that note after all these years. The cam specs did not change since I had mine so I don't know what their reasoning is.Visit Summit website...http://www.summitracing.com/

IOW, you stick it in and it will change things so little that the computer can compensate for it. You know what is involved in a cam swap? Why go thru all that hassle and have 20HP to show for it? What so difficult about getting your ECM reprogrammed? You call people like www.fasterproms.com, tell them what you need done and they will send you a reprogrammed EPROM. If you borrow their DIACOM stuff and have a laptop, you can email them feedback so they can send you another chip that is even closer than the first and so on. You could do the cam swap with the motor in the car but that is a pain. Easier if you take the motor out.
