Gonna take her out to the track

Welp.. last time i raced it was last year and i had a few bugs holding me back.. one being a leaky tranny that shifted badly and with lag when under full throttle and another would be the main fan dieing and letting the car temp be at like 210 before getting to the start line. Best so far is a 15.2 @89.7, looking for a 14.x with new tires and a rebuilt tranny with shift kit and corvette servos, etc.

1990 Lb9, 2.73, auto.. flowmaster 80 series 3inch cat back, airfoil, msd coil, accel plug wires, splitfire plugs, stewart water pump, hypertech chip, and Rebuilt tranny with shift kit, hardened shell, corvette servos, etc.. thats about it so far on the car, going to get a base run before the mods about to go in below:

Mods to go in, in a couple of weeks.. L31 350, Stock Iron Vortec Heads with Lt4 springs, ZZ-4 cam, SDPC TPI vortec intake base, SLP 1 & 3/4th's headers, Mini-starter, New plugs, All ARP bolts, rest is the stock L31 350 (13* dome releive pistons for 9.1:1 C/R).. getting a chip from a friend with a ZZ-4 crate to start my tuning from, also: AFPR, Lakewood LCA's, Spohn SFC's and wonderbar (both powdercoated red), DS loop, Accel 23 lb injectors, GM 1.5 roller rockers... umm..that might be everything.

I am done putting the bottom end together.. got the oil pan and heads on.. roller rockers are being put on now. Looking how i want to tackle the EGR setup.. since the SDPC TPI vortec intake base is setup from the Corvette style TPI. Also had to get a new flexplate thats for the l31.. 168 tooth..

Other things to go in after.. Aluminum DS, 3.42 gears, New paint, 17 inch ROH Snypers, Black Leather 4th gen T/A seats.

Well.. since i still had the stock engine in and i knew i wouldn't be done with the 350 for 7-8 months, plus the money factor.. i just had them put in a stock style converter. Nothin special.. they didn't start runnin the clocks until like 1:45am.. and i was beat.. so i took off just before that. I will run tuesday i guess..

As far as times with the new engine.. i hope for low 13's.. some people say it would be a high 12's.. but i rather not get my hopes up and then run a 13 and be mad.

That serie II rear isn't doing you any favoers running the 1/4. The only problem is you can't go higher than 308 withy the series II carrier. Any math guys able to convett his times if he ran a 373?

IMO its worth it and its a wise investment. Only downfalls is that your speedo will be off about 12mph but that is fixable and your rpms will be a little bit higher on the highway cruisin' at 65. Mine runs about 2200 rpms in OD which isn't really that bad. The one this you'll definatly notice is how much faster it rips through the rpm band and quicker acceleration through your 0-60 run. Definatly worth it

Sorry IF i spoke out of school. I was told that the series II carriers wouldn't accept series III gears without seriously compromising the strngth of the rear. Actually, I read that info on the net so I'll have to go a google'ing. I hope you're right!

Series 2 and series 3 ring and pinions are not interchangeable. They make 3.73's for 2 series and 3 sereis carriers. The 2 series ring gear is thicker than the 3 sereis. End of story.
