Question GMPP Fast Burn Heads question

I'm considering a ZZ383/425 Hot Street Engine for my stock replacement.
Will GMPP's Fast Burn heads work with the TPI intake manafold?
Or is this crate engine even worth TPI and I need to go with a modern EFI setup?

Granted the TPI setup will not be stock, large tube runners, etc. will be added later.

Thanks in advance,

Re: GMPP Fast Burn Heads question

No. These FastBurn heads have a so called "Vortec" intake bolt pattern. TPI CAN be bolted on but you'd need a TPI/Vortec manifold from Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center @ www.sdpc2000.com and work from there.

I suggest staying in the same price range but going with a different crate engine all together with normal heads.

Re: GMPP Fast Burn Heads question

The fast burn heads are drilled to accept either a vortec manifold or conventional style manifold bolt pattern. They also are drilled for both the center bolt valve covers or the conventional valve covers. They've been this way ever since they started producing them. If you want to install you're TPI system, plan on losing a lot of horsepower from the original design of the crate engine. The only setup that will keep most of the horsepower is the Holley Stealth Ram & even then you will need to do some prom burning or use their ECU to reach the 425 hp mark.

Good info! A RamJet or StealthRam would work best like he said. The ports are huge on the fastburns compared to any TPI parts.

Re: GMPP Fast Burn Heads question

i have fastburn heads and scdp2000 vortec tpi base for sale for $1500 which have port work and all the little tricks. then it will work with any standard tpi induction you like. worked really well with my superram before i pulled it apart. i have that for sale too for $700. the setup on my old 388 made just shy of 400 rwhp but the torque with the superram was great at 430. hell i have their 383 shortblock too if you are looking for that. 03 casting $2,000.

programming is the hardest part of these cars, good luck with it all.

True the programming is the hardest, which is why i'm looking at getting rid of the original ECM/TPI setup altogether.
Crates with the Edelbrock EFI setup are out of my budget right now, so looks like I'll stick with getting the axel/tranny beefed up to handle what I_really_want:

Re: GMPP Fast Burn Heads question

at least you are going for a reasonable amount and nothing to crazy. i'd build the motor and break your trans/rear before you waste the money worrying about them. you'll be happier in the end. you'll spend the same amount on your trans and rear building them up and then there is no guarantee you'll actually need it.

if your on a budget break it, then fix it..

Yes, they do, but they use the Vortec style intake ports. A regular intake manifold will not line up on the intake ports.

Re: GMPP Fast Burn Heads question

yep however with scdp2000.com vortec/fastburn tpi intake you can use any existing intake out there and the sr is suppose to have a fastburn/vortec bolt pattern option by now.
