GM fast burn vs Edlebrock E-tech 200

Anybody try any of those heads:

Fast burn:

When tested on a 383 ci small block engine with 9.5 to 1 compression ratio and .540" lift roller cam, single plane intake manifold and 750 cfm Holley carburetor, the Fast Burn heads produced 497 hp at an incredibly low 5800 rpm. Total ignition timing to be used on a Fast Burn head will vary based on a number of factors, but most configurations made the most power with 34 to 36? of total timing. Technical Notes: Use intake manifold P/N 12496820,

============================

Edelbrck E-tech 200 :

19 more HP and 15 ft.-lbs. more torque than ''fast burn'' cylinder heads. Feature 200cc rectangular intake ports and 78cc exhaust ports. They outflow the ''fast burn'' aluminum heads by 10% on the intake, 17% on the exhaust, making power up to 7000+ rpm. 64cc combustion chambers produce approximately 10.2:1 compression when used in 350 with flat top pistons. Includes 2.02/1.60'' valves.

is it true what Edelbrock claims?

If those are the Vortech heads, I'd advise against them unless that is all you plan to do. Only SDCP has intakes for them that are TPI.

These 'tests' were done by edelbrock?
Your wise to go around looking for other opinions.
I don't trust edelbrocks claims.

If you have seen the ports on the fastburns you will notice how rough the walls are, flow is gained by polishing up the ports.

I have only heard of 2 Etec motors so far, they were both the 180s i think.

Has anyone tryed the Etec 200's yet??

That is the question there, isn't it? What are your plans? If you sell it, that could be a drawback and a reason for someone to knock the offer down.

If he doesnt plan to use the TPI intake then he can run the Vortec Miniram or a carb on top of the Etec or Fastburn heads and make mad power. Check out what the rags are making with unported cast vortecs, 400+ hp with carbs. Add to that the 20 extra hp the fast burns will make over the vortecs out of the box and you got yourself one hell of a killer setup.

I point you to this thread for good info on fastburns:

405 hp, 400 tq with a cam that has .500/.510 lift and out-of-the-box fastburns. Jesus thats cheap horsepower.

The latest Car Craft uses a set of Etec 200s to produce 530 hp or so on a built 350.

As long as he is happy and will not change. If you wanted to change them for whatever reason and have to sell them, it is one thing more that is a hinderance at the bargaining table.

Like I said, I hate to be forced to use a certain intake. I prefer to have one that will work with other intakes so I can change them or sell them without so much of a problem.

VortecZ: Rain out We got about 2 minutes away from norwalk and it started to rain, then rained though the night. They're doing Sunday t&t in November so I might go this Sunday. Ill keep ya posted.

Alkim: Honestly if he ends up doing heads/cam then the person who ends up buying it would probably prefer the better intake. And if he goes Miniram its not like its excessivly hard to go back to stock, just change the heads back to the stockers and slap the tpi back on. Nothing too bad.

Thanks to you all,

For now I am building turbo LT1 (I have a single turbo kit for small

Block) and want to put it in a 1/2 ton 1988 Chevy pick up and

Hoping to be better than Ford Lightning, have ported heads and intake,

58 throttle, 42 lb injectors, FMU, forged pistons and LT4 cam.

The heads are for another engine for a friend.
